About Us

Our coaching inn traces its origins back to the 18th century, when it was a popular and hospitable stop for travellers to and from the city.

Owned and operated since 1989 by your host Michael Jarvis, The Farmers Home offers a traditional welcome, wholesome traditional and a la carte food and an extensive range of beers, wines and spirits to suit every taste.

Located in our own picturesque, attractive surroundings we are ideal for either a meal out with the family, an intimate dinner for two or just a night out with friends.

We can also cater for weddings, christenings, birthday parties and wakes.

Our Menu

Freshly prepared on the premises by our resident chef, and wherever possible using locally-sourced produce, our meals have earned us a reputation for both quality and value. Whether you are looking for traditional, home-made pies and curries, or are looking for something a little more exotic from our a la carte selection, such as lobster or pepper-corn steak, we have the meal for you. Now including our new range of fish dishes, our menu represents the very best in food that we are proud to serve, and that you will be happy to eat.

Seasonal Meals

We are open for both lunch and dinner, offering in the day our famous two-course deal, which includes a starter and main meal. Our seasonal meals include Christmas dinner, available throughout December.

Our Drinks

Our well-maintained ales and lagers include such famous local names as Ringwood, Cask Ale and HSB, all of which are available on pump and kept using traditional methods in our cellar.

We have a full wine list that includes some of the most famous names from both the old and new worlds of wine-making.

A full compliment of spirits is available, as are a range of soft drinks, including special drinks for children.
